Canada Trade Mission led by International Trade Minister, Jim Peterson, our host, had a successful visit in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong from January 18 to 25, 2005. Prime Minister Paul Martin helped the Canada Trade Mission during his visits to China, where he met with Chinese political leaders and business people and Canadian delegates.
China is Canada's second-largest single-nation trading partner after the United States, and its first in Asia. Priority sectors for this trade mission included agriculture and agri-food, information and communications technologies, aerospace, biotechnology, education, natural resources, transportation, financial services and tourism.
The Spencer Logistics Inc. had a team with President Greg Spencer, Executive Director Allan Rae and Assistant Raman L. Li, joined the Trade Mission. During the visit period, The Spencer team attended all the activities of the Canada Trade Mission from January 18 to 20 and widely interfaced with Canadian delegates and Chinese business representatives. The Spencer team had a company presentation at the Transportation Sector and distributed the company profile materials. The Spencer team also visited YUD partner. Both parties discussed the detailed development plan and its progress status.
Canada is facing new challenges, but also remarkable opportunities in the global marketplace. The visit to China provided us much information about China’s development and demands. And also it was a great help to further develop commercial ties in China and North America and establish new ones with Chinese or Canadian partners.
